Season 11 is based mostly on the 2017 adventure module Tomb of Annihilation, which is a reboot of the classic Tomb of Horrors, with some elements (like Whelm and the Yawning Portal Inn) thrown in from the Tales from the Yawning Portal anthology, also published in 2017 by the Wizards. The finale of this story arc was actually played in early 2018, at PAX South, making it the first season to both start and end at the same location.

With the AcqInc business in Waterdeep down due to recent scuffles with the Zhentarim and Binwin's retirement, Viari and Môrgæn decide to lift Omin's spirits by presenting him with the mythical sentient warhammer named Whelm—which the party first has to steal from the Zhentarim, who plan to auction it off to the highest bidder. After many hijinks and more than a little cosplay, Omin does get his hands on Whelm, but his jubilation is cut short by some very grave news.
The legendary artifact Whelm is being auctioned off in Waterdeep. We start off with Morgaen alone, sneaking around on rooftops. Morgaen knows where Whelm is being kept. She's been spotted by a big dude with a bow. He shoots her. She falls off the roof. Morgaen ends up falling through a window into a noble party. Morgaen slips into an attic and grabs a disguise. She shakes off her pursuers.
The Yawning Portal[]
Acquisitions Inc. has been operating out of the Yawning Portal, a famous tavern with a well that is an entrance in the legendary dungeon known as Undermountain. Binwin resigned? They have his wand of wonder and are trying to figure out what to do with it. Morgaen arrives and sits down with them.
The group tries to have a private meeting. Morgaen is a bit overdressed, still in the fancy clothes that she stole from the attic. Jim uses magic to wear a nice suit, complete with living dove cufflinks. As the meeting begins in a curtained-off area, Jim's job is to keep an eye out on those chasing Morgaen. As soon as he looks outside the curtain, he sees a big half-orc dude. He quietly closes it.
Bar Fight: Viari thinks this is a perfect time to use the wand of wonder. Morgaen wants to send the bad guy into the well. Viari tries to jump the dude. Viari literally jumps at him. The half-orc catches the bard and tosses him into the well! Viari makes his save, falls 10 feet down and grabs onto the side of the interior of the well. Omin mauls the guy and sends him hurtling into the well. The guy grabs onto Viari's pants and hangs there. Patrick points out that Viari's pants come off very easily. Just a bit of velcro.
Jim comes over to the well. Pulls out the wand of wonder! This is really great. Viari is horrified. Here we go… he rolls a 46. Lightning bolt! Viari gets hit, too. The half-orc is still alive and he is still holding on!
Morgaen's turn. She uses mage hand to undo Viari's pants! Viari points out that the carpet matches the drapes. He considers this free advertising. Viari is not bashful. He climbs up, weiner dangling and high-fiving everyone. An elf and a half-orc bodyguard were watching this battle, but now they're gone.
The Auction Scheme[]
Morgaen tells the group about the auction for Whelm. They learn about its powers - it is intelligent, it’s +3!! If you read the entry, you’ll see that it has a negative trait that gives the wielder disadvantage when outdoors. Yikes.
Morgaen is wearing a holy symbol of Asmodeus, Lord of the Nine Hells. She says she stole it from the nobles. She wants to keep it, but they throw it in the well.
The group sits down and plans out how to steal Whelm. Omin is a masked lord, a secret ruler of Waterdeep. They decide that they will use his political power to raid the auction and seize the illegal items.
Morgan points out that the group needs a new headquarters and that they should seize the whole building. Wow. The crowd is really impressed.
Viari really wants to use his disguise kit. The group humors him. The disguises: Jim: Jim becomes CLAUDE SPELLMANCER, a hunchback who smells like garlic. Morgaen: She gets fake human ears, they shave her head! One guy in the crowd desperately wants her to have a mustache. Morgaen gets a mustache. Omin: A guy with a hat, a beard and a southern accent. Viari: A lady. The group gets there the next day and... someone else already raided the place. They eventually learn that a knight from the Order of the Green Flame stormed the place. All of the Zhentarim are dead.
The heroes interact with cops named Blastwyn and Cromley.
Omin is hilarious doing the southern accent. At first, I wasn’t sure if he could do it. But with each line, the accent gets deeper and better. They should make names for all of these new identities.
There's a tiefling of the Order of the Green Flame that was captured. The tiefling guy takes an immediate shine to Claude Spellmancer and slides his tail up Jim's leg.
The tiefling, Sly, explains that Whelm was taken by the Order of the Green Flame. The knight in charge didn't want the hammer to fall into the hands of demons.
Dagult Neverember was ousted during Tyranny of Dragons. Laeral Silverhand runs Waterdeep. The adventurers learn that this all might be a scheme of Dagult’s to somehow regain power in Waterdeep.
The group wants to find the paladin of the Order of the Green Flame, Amandar.
The heroes decide to search through the warehouse and they find a greenish sword.
A harper directs the group to Amandar’s location. The group knocks on the door. She comes down, slams the hammer on the ground and messes up the party.
Omin immediately figures out that Amandar is being controlled by Whelm. Whelm says he is looking for a dwarf. The heroes spot one or more winged demonic creatures in the sky heading this way. It turns out that they are fire genies.
The adventurers convince Amander to throw Whelm down and they befriend her.
Poor Jim got stunned in the beginning and just can't make his save. That tiefling guy who likes Jim shows up and says, "Nice to see you like this." Yargh. Morgaen shoots the guy in the head and kills him in one shot. Jim still can't make his save.
Amandar wants to hold off the demons while the heroes escape with Whelm. Viari does not want to leave her.
Whelm points out that it is Nix and Nox! The fire genies from White Plume Mountain! Servants of Keraptis. Wow.
Viari is definitely refusing to leave Amandar here alone. I hope they stay. Clearly they are supposed to leave, but this is the kind of thing that happens in D&D.
Nope.. they leave. Viari does leave his owlbear to help Amandar fight the genies.
The group goes to the Yawning Portal and drinks. Omin is contacted via a sending spell. Someone tells him that both of his sisters are dead!

Omin's agents retrieve his sisters' lifeless bodies, only to discover that his newly-gained resurrection spells won't work—and on top of that, Jim falls prey to a necrotic curse targeting those who had been brought Back from the Dead. To discover what's trapping the souls of the dead and sapping the lives of the resurrected, Acquisitions Inc. (with the newest hire K'thriss Drow'b in tow) has to go on a quest to the Spine of the World to speak to an ancient oracle guarded by frost giants.

The Contract[]
Omin Dran is flying the airship. He drops K'thriss Drow'b off in the Dessarin Valley. He flies to Waterdeep and leaves Môrgæn there.
The group needs to pick up some interns for a new mission.
Omin selects some interns:
- "Hell's Adjacent" Hibner: A tiefling that doesn't sleep much.
- Tweed Barsum: A gnome.
- Alandria Primp: An acolyte in her early days of wizard training.
- Scubby Hornswallow: A scruffy forest gnome with small, rough hands.
Viari is suffering from the death curse, as is Jim. Jim has sores on his body that he is covering with powder, sunglasses and a wig. The wig is of black, luxurious curly black hair. Jim is strutting around, looking good.
Omin has been buying assets, similar to how some companies buy medical debt. One such acquisition is an infernal contract, which is a binding agreement linking a soul to the owner.
The contract he bought is bound to Strix. Omin learns that the Skizziks were a human family from Sigil that feared annihilation from their rivals. They made a pact with Asmodeus to become tieflings and they were also awarded vassals - devils to serve as bodyguards and assistants.
This contract that Omin has lets him call forth the family's most powerful member: Strix.
This representative of the infernal house is bound to do as Omin commands.
Summoning Strix[]
Omin uses the contract to summon her. A pentagram forms and Strix appears in a flash. She's got her staff in one hand and her flying broom in the other.
Strix freaks out for a second. Jim tries to figure out her deal with an insight check. He rolls a 1. He declares that she is a dumpster witch, or maybe a trash witch.
Strix can see that Jim is suffering from the death curse, the same curse that she and Diath had been suffering from.
Omin explains to Strix that her family is in league with devils. Omin was able to buy her contract for a little under 10 gold. Strix is insulted.
Jim has been trying to shake off the death curse by juicing. Strix and the Acquisitions Inc. team get to know each other and compare robots. The waffle crew has a kid-killing robot. Acq, Inc. has fraternized with beer robots.
Omin informs Strix that once this mission is done, he promises not to summon her again unless he feels like it. He might summon her for a snail-eating competition, something like that.
Traveling to Chult[]
The group flies to Chult, a trip that takes 10 days. Strix sometimes throws hand-written notes over the side of the ship, hoping to make contact her friends. Jim sees this and tries to be all smooth, offering her a dove. Strix loves birds. She nonchalantly thanks him.
The death curse is slowly killing Jim. Over the course of this trip, his max hit points drop by 10. He's down to 28.
As they get close to Port Nyanzaru, they see some winged gnashers and they spot a massive turtle in the water.
A creature flies up to their ship. It is a friendly half-dragon with gold scales holding a staff. He is Zindar the Quartermaster.
Omin tells Zindar that they need to find the soulmonger, but Zindar knows nothing about it.
Zindar explains that normal sailing ships pay a dragon turtle in gold and gems for safe passage to the bay. There are pirates out there causing problems for the city, and they have a secret cove. Omin really wants to take down the pirates once the death curse is dealt with.
Skills Assessment[]
The group asks Strix how she is in combat. She talks about shaping her fireball spells and Jim declares that it is impossible to do such a thing.
Jim realizes that she's a sorcerer. Jim says that she is a pervert. Viari can't believe that Jim is calling her a pervert - he assumes she must be into really freaky stuff for Jim to say such a thing.
The group wants to see what Strix can do. Viari shoves Hibner over the side, and he begins falling toward the ocean below. Strix flies on her broom and tries to grab him. She rolls a 9. His shirt rips and he keeps falling. She tries to polymorph him into a bat. He rolls a saving throw and gets a natural 20. Hibner falls into the water.
Strix has flashbacks to when she accidentally killed Ireena. Viari dives in and they find Hibner in the water, alive and unconscious. Strix polymorphs him into a bat. They bring him on the ship and give him bat CPR.
Strix shuts off the polymorph spell. Hibner gets up and punches Viari in the nuts. Omin authorizes it.
Jim is not impressed with her magic, and he notices that people in the harbor are watching this spectacle. Viari takes off his shirt off, because it is so hot out.
The group lands and heads into Port Nyanzaru, a jungle city where dinosaurs are beasts of burden.
There's a really nice boat with a bright blue sail nearby. The crew waves in a friendly manner. Omin sends them fruit baskets.
Port Nyanzaru[]
The heroes heads toward Kaya's House of Repose in a nicer part of the city.
A little kid offers her candy. Strix shakes the kid and more candy falls out. Jim's makeup is running. He has a purple silk parasol for protection against harmful UV rays.
Viari wants to buy some clothes so that he can fit in. He gets a turban and billowing Errol Flynn-style clothing.
Ankylosaurs are pulling a ship into a berth. Jim walks up to one of them and puts a hand on it, Jurassic Park style. The dinosaur handlers poke him with 10 foot poles.
Jim wants to buy one. They go check out dinosaurs for sale. They learn that the city holds dinosaur races. Omin thinks Jim doesn't have much time left, and maybe this would be nice for him.
Jim acts sicker and claims that dinosaur racing might be something he needs.
The group agrees that a triceratops is the way to go. They want to raise dinosaurs.
Viari feels sympathy for Strix, knowing what it's like to be an intern. He buys her a custom witch hat. It's light and has pouches. Strix cries and says how nice it was. Viari wants a hug. Strix doesn't do hugs. She gives him a weird hand touch.
Jim's makeup is running. He rudely tells Strix that he can give her makeup tips. She casts alter self to look like him and insults him. Jim runs away, weeping, saying that they need to get rid of this trash witch.
The Merchant Prince[]
They meet with a merchant prince to discuss getting in on the dinosaur races.
The prince offers them pistachio nuts and the group is all over it, Strix especially. The prince learns that Strix beat the death curse and wants to hear about it over dinner. She panics, and then is relieved when the whole group is invited.
Jim, resentful of Strix, says that she's lying about the cure, and also, she can't cast any good spells. Strix quietly sets the bottom of his robes on fire. He snaps his fingers and puts the fire out. He threatens to set her on fire. Someone points out that she's a tiefling - fire doesn't bother her all that much.
Jim quietly says to Omin, "I'm going to roast this pervert."
The Meeting[]
Later, the group is going to meet with the prince. They're in a tavern. A woman gives Jim a harlequin mask. "Prince Wakanga offers you this gift. A magic item given to him from a friend long ago. It will enhance your natural beauty."
Jim puts it on and it creates an illusion that makes Jim as handsome as he's ever been.
The prince meet with the heroes. Jim is very annoyed that the merchant prince is paying attention to Strix. He finds a picture of himself in the place and offers to autograph it. Nobody's impressed.
Jim "accidentally" spills wine on Strix, but she doesn't notice because she's generally a pretty filthy person. She rings it out and drinks it.
Viari sthis prince and gives him a gift. He returns the favor and gives them a spellbook. Both Jim and Strix lunge for it. They roll off to see who is faster. Jim wins. Strix starts crying.
Nearby, Jim spots some strange rugs with mouths on them. Jim "accidentally" knocks her into one. She fails her save. It's a rug of smothering. It engulfs her.
Omin scolds Jim. Strix escapes it by turning into a cloud. Jim goes: "gross."
The Library[]
The group goes to the prince's home and checks out his library while they wait for him to be ready. They decide to read some books. Chris wants the group to roll percentile to see what book they find. Viari rolls a 100!
The group learns a ton of lore. They learn about Ubtao, a god who lived among the people, the father of Chult. The Chultans became so warlike with each other that Ubtao left Chult. He wanted them to solve their problems themselves. Ubtao loved mazes and it is said that if you trace a path through one of his mazes, you earn his favor.
The group also learns that there are rumors of a portal to the underworld in the mountains. Lurking there is Dendar the night serpent, who will devour the sun if she is released. Dendar is a god of the yuan-ti.
Bad Guys[]
As the group reads, 4 assassins creep into the room. They're wearing black and they have wavy daggers. Omin spots them.
Omin is very interested to see Strix's capabilities. Viari warns her - no fireballs in the library. She does it anyway and she shapes the fireball so that it doesn't harm the group or the books. She looks at Jim while she does it.
Jim is not happy.
The assassins are snake people. Jim casts magic missile. Strix heckles him for using a 1st level spell.
The heroes pummel the assassins. Viari likes the snake lady assassin. She flees the scene. End of session.

Dinosaur Shopping[]
This adventure picks up where Enter the Trash Witch left off.
The people of Port Nyanzaru are getting ready for the weekly dinosaur races. The whole city is moving stuff out of the way in preparation. Jim loses another max hp due to the death curse.
The group is trying to come up with a way to make a profit off of dinosaur sales. Viari spots the snake lady. Jim and Strix go out of their way to embarrass Viari in front of her.
Famous dinosaurs: Ubtao's favorite, Banana Candy, Big Honker, and Mountain Thunder
Omin is curious about Banana Candy. Strix is in charge of dinosaur decor - she needs to make their dinosaur intimidating and scary.
Viari wants to find a way to "juice" the dinosaur. He's looking for Achmed's Shed of Danger Juice/Fabulous Robes. He finds it.
Strix doesn't know which dinosaur to make scary, so she starts rubbing dung on Banana Candy. She gets swatted away by the owner.
Jim finds a dinosaur he wants. Omin makes a persuasion check to buy it. Natural 20! This crowd is fired up.
They cover it in dung, and then clean off an "18" on the side. I assume they did this to make it like a race car, but the 18 plays into things as the show goes on. It's a really freakish, only-in-D&D thing.
Jim uses prestidigitation to clean 18. Strix uses prestidigitation to give it fart clouds. He dispels the farts. She uses minor image to make it look like it is covered in poop.
They trot out their dinosaur with the 18 on the side. Its name? Shitstorm. "We're coming in #1 with #2."
The odds against the group are 10-1, as bad as it gets.
Viari has the "steroids" - stimulating stuff like ginger root. He's going to stick it up the dinosaur's butt. Jim gives the dinosaur some wine to loosen it up.
Time for the race... They set up. The crowd cheers.
The Dinosaur Race[]
Another rider tells Jim to prepare to be annihilated. Jim summons a dove and tries to have it shit on her. He rolls a natural one. It hits Omin instead.
Time to stick the roids up the dinosaur's butt. What kind of check? Sleight of hand.
Viari makes his roll. Wait.. he doesn't want to do it. Rolls a 4! He has a +13. 17! Crowd goes nuts.
Viari gets caught in the "contractions". His arm is stuck deep in the butt of their triceratops.
Chris goes over the rules:
- Don't go down side streets.
- No attacking the other riders (It's fair game if nobody sees it).
- A triceratops costs 500 gp.
- The race is abstract. It is based on a point system. The first person to get 300 points wins.
- The race involves animal handling checks.
- The DC to succeed is different depending on what dinosaur you're riding. An allosaurus is more difficult than a triceratops, because an allosaurus is hard to control.
- You can whip your beast to make it go faster. If it doesn't like it, though, it might do something.
The race begins! Jim is riding his triceratops. Viari's arm is actually stuck in its butt. He makes a check to escape... 3. He's getting sucked in.
Jim needs a 14 on his check to succeed. He has 50 points so far.
Viari makes his check. His arm is free. Strix is on her flying broom and grabs him. Paper chandeliers just so happen to be stretched across the street. Viari swings from paper chandelier to paper chandelier. Each comes apart as he goes to the next one. He lands on Banana Candy.
The rider starts smacking him with his whip. Viari picks his pocket. He snatches a dinosaur hide pouch from his pocket. He goes "Is this yours"? He hands it over and "accidentally" drops it, trying to get the rider to fall off.
Omin is among the spectators. He's being followed by two tabaxis. One has pantaloons, the other is wearing a hat. Omin walks up to them and tells them if they want to follow a cleric of luck, they'll have to do better.
One cracks its lute over Omin's head. One point of damage. The cat guy runs. Omin cracks him in the head with his mace with an opportunity attack.
Jim is rolling really well. The juice kicks in. Jim now has 100 points. Now 250. 50 more and Jim wins.
Ubtao's Favorite and Banana Candy are ahead of him. Viari is on Banana Candy. The dinosaurs collide and they both topple over. Viari wants to leap and save the snake woman.
Viari tosses her toward some fruit. Strix flies over and redirects her toward a statue of a tiger. Rolls a 10. Now she needs a DEX save. Strix misses and the snake woman on an awning.
Strix crashes through a window of an estate. She's going through hallways. Survival check to navigate. 20 total. Strix exits, leaving a burnt hole in her shape in the drapes. Jim is winning the race! He rolls bad. His dinosaur is becoming uncontrollable. He's running down the sidewalk smashing into things.
A kid on a balcony throws a melon at him. The kid rolls a natural 20. It covers Jim's head. He can't see anything.
Jim rolls to navigate blind. 18 total. Crowd chants "18". Oh yeah... that's the number of the dinosaur. Only one dinosaur, named Big Honker, is ahead of him.
Strix misty steps onto Jim's dinosaur and is going to try to steer it. Her broom starts whacking Big Honker in the face.
Jim blows past Big Honker. The crowd chants "18". Jim pulls the melon off his head. Strix declares that she wins.
Jim is choking her. She turns into a cloud.
Yuan-ti Treachery[]
Viari helps the snake woman up. She looks at him with her snaky eyes. They make out.
There's something sweet on his lips. Viari feels delirious and he begins to stagger around. She becomes a blur. He falls unconscious. She loots him. The apocalypse dagger! Gone.
A group of mostly-naked men and women bring Jim with a trophy encrusted with gems. Strix and Jim both grab it. Opposed checks. Jim wins! Jim celebrates. Her broom comes back.
Omin looks for Viari. Viari has been robbed. He's unconscious. Omin brings him to the winner's circle. He wakes up and cleans himself off in a fountain. The apocalypse dagger is gone. She also took his betting chips - he stood to win a lot on this race.
The heroes try to go to the betting place to ambush her when she tries to cash in.
As Jim gets free drinks, Strix cries. He brings her a drink and pretends he paid for it. She dumps it on him, cries into it, and drinks her own tears.
Omin and Viari track down the people who cashed in the chips. It is the two tabaxi that fought Omin.
Viari uses his owlbear figurine. It chases one tabaxi and catches him. Viari chases the other guy down. Viari gets his earnings off of him.
He was doing a job for Yashida. She works for Ras Nsi, leader of the yuan-ti in Omu.
The group meets with a guy named Grandfather Zatembe. He communes with Zavrus. He sees a jungle city to the south and a black obelisk draped in vines.
They mention Ras Nsi and Zatembe gets very alarmed. He says Ras Nsi was a defender of Mezro, cast out, he was. He is a curse on all this land. Forsaken by Ubtao and the old gods.
The group heads back to their ship. Their crew is there. Chris printed out the crew's statistics.
The heroes decide to bring 18, the dinosaur, along. They rig an apparatus so that it is strapped to the underside of the ship.
Jim flies down on his broom. He rolls to see if he can calm it. He actually rolls an 18. Freaky!
The group arrives at a section of jungle with a lava pit. It is shrouded in mist. Chris unveils an insane diorama/map. It's the lost city of Omu.
The group picks out a place to land. Gargoyles with green devil faces (!) are watching them. Strix ties the crew to the ship so nobody falls off like the one guy did on the podcast.
The group decides to kill the gargoyles. Each player will run one of the NPC crew in addition to their character.
Strix casts death ward on Jim, who asks what death ward is. Strix sarcastically is shocked he doesn't have it.
Jim makes like he casts dispel magic on it. Scubby casts a crappy illusion of pelicans.
A gargoyle swoops down, grabs Scubby and eats his face. Scubby is dead. It flies away with Scubby in its mouth.
A fan in the crowd points out that Scubby is tied to a rope. Scubby is torn in two. Part of the corpse swings under the ship. 18 tries to eat it.
Viari summons the owlbear. It rolls to attack. 18! Viari and the owlbear destroy a gargoyle. There's two left. They are flying.
Omin casts magic weapon on the ballista. Omin also spots a tyrannosaurus rex down below. It is intrigued with what is going on. His NPC kills one of the gargoyles.
Strix flies on her broom and launches a fireball at the tyrannosaurus rex. She does 30 points. The t. rex had feathers. Now they're burned off.
Viari swings on a rope and hacks into the dinosaur, impaling his sword into the roof of its mouth.
Jim releases the triceratops now known as 18 and rides him, falling toward the t. rex. He casts feather fall. 18 lands gently on its back.
Jim notices that this t. rex is evil, more malevolent than he'd imagine a t. rex would be.
Jim makes an attack roll for 18 the triceratops. Natural 20! Damage: 8d8+6.
The t.rex bites Jim for 30+ points of damage. Patrick says that he died doing what he loved most: riding two dinosaurs at once.
The t rex and 18 tumble down a hill. The t. rex is dead.
The group thinks he dispelled the death ward. Strix ties a rope around herself and climbs inside the dead t. rex. She grabs Jim.
The group pulls the rope. Out comes Strix and Jim Darkmagic, who is at one hit point thanks to her death ward.
18 is alive, too!
Omin destroys the infernal contract. She burns "fuck you, Jim" on the deck. She disappears in a shroud of black flame.
An old woman appears. A halfling. Rosie Beestinger from the C Team! End of session.

As the party descends into the Tomb, a helpful French lizard shows them a way into the "backstage area", where a freak dimension-hopping accident lands them in the actual, not-at-all-embellished Wizards of the Coast HQ in Renton. There, the mighty wizard Chris Perkins helps them to get back to their rightful ages and to return to the Tomb. Omin, who had managed to snatch a copy of the adventure module, devises a cunning plan for a Dungeon Bypass, which succeeds through a creative combo of his and Jim's magic. As Jim's soul is finally freed from the Soulmonger, however, the party is split internally by The Reveal of Omin's contingency plan Gone Horribly Right.
