Season Eight ties in with WotC's Tyranny of Dragons 2014 metaplot concerning the Cult of the Dragon, which was launched simultaneously with the fifth D&D edition.

"Dragons Over Easy"[]
Played live at PAX East 2014, this adventure opens with the party enjoying the benefits of fame, success and franchising — particularly Omin, now a Masked Lord of Waterdeep. Soon, however, Acquisitions Incorporated find themselves crossing wits, words and swords with their most dangerous enemy yet when Morgaen warns Acq Inc their Baldur's Gate office needs help to retrieve a clutch of dragon eggs from Dragonspear Castle.
The party's first encounter with the cultists goes poorly - the villains ambush the party, kill Jim, and down Binwin and Môrgæn, before delivering a message to Omin.
This episode with the party attempting to sneak out of Dragonspear Castle with a clutch of eggs, past a green dragon and its minions... only to run head-on into a second green dragon.
"Five Heads are Better than None"[]
Played live at PAX Prime 2014, it sees the party trapped inside Dragonspear Castle and fighting for their dear lives, when an unexpected ally returns with reinforcements. From there on, their adventure transitions into the most epic High-Altitude Battle yet and culminates in a shocking revelation.
Viari rejoins the party at the climax. The final showdown against the Dragon Cult and their masters takes place aboard the Acquisitions Incorporated Battle Balloon flying through the storm of the century amidst a massive battle between metallic and chromatic dragons. Omin's sister Portentia Dran is revealed.
